Bukit Timah Summit...

Today I felt the pressure from all the comments of posting only nice food and drinks. So I started my day with a hike up to the summit of Bukit Timah, Singapore's highest mountain.

I went up the green trail, which promises some nice sights. When I faced people walking there with alpine hiking boots, large back packs and hiking sticks, I wasn't sure if I was equipped enough with my running shoes. Nevertheless I continued my walk and after some 30 minutes I reached the summit and even make a summit photo! Unfortunately I had no wine and no Salami with me to make a summit pick-nick, so had to walk back down to the next food court to get some nice chicken, tofu and rice with a refreshing fresh lemon juice :)

Trees tend to be significantly higher here, hard to see the treetop...

There are some nice butterflies, one was iridescent light blue, but unfortunately too fast to catch with my camera...

The summit stone. The hight is not so impressive, but the latitude is: only 1° 21' north, means only around 140km to the Equator...

This stuff looked quite strange, I suppose it's some plant disease...

Another remarkable thing in the rainforest are the sounds. You can hear something all the time, insects, birds and animals communicate all the time... The video below is just too give you a small idea, how it sounds all time long. And it's not that quiet...

And sure, there were Monkeys as well. Not in the Nature Reserve, but outside nearby the road where they made some show for the tourists... They seem to have fun all live long...

  3. Ah, the primary trail is a concrete street, that changes only if you take the "view paths". So, in theory, you never get lost because all trails go to the summit or end in a special view point...

And yes Kety, now I know how they feel, when the other climbers next to them invested thousends of francs in their equipment, while the czech invested it in beer the night before ;-))

  4. Du könntest ja auch mal eine Night-Safari durch den Park machen. Natürlich ohne Gehege zwischen dir und den Tieren;-)
